Cold weather and frost causes multiple watermain breaks across the city

UPDATE: March 7 at 10:30 a.m.

Although the weather is taking a turn for the better, City crews are still working hard to return water to residents and businesses impacted by emergency watermain breaks across the city. Homes and businesses in several areas of the city had water turned back on yesterday and crews continue to address other emergency watermain breaks as quickly as they can.

Today crews are working in the following areas:

  • 100 block of Pensacola Court West
    • Residents are being notified and water will be turned off today to investigate and repair the leak
  • 300 block of Normandy Rd. S.
  • 2600 block of 28 Ave. S. - water is off, impacting Servus Sports Centre and Parks depot
  • 2200 block of 15 Ave. N. - water is off, impacting two businesses
  • 500 block of 30 St. N. - water is turned on but crews still working on site
  • 1300 block of 2 Ave. N.

For a complete list of reported watermain breaks as of March 7, visit www.lethbridge.ca/WaterInterruptions.

Motorists may come across partial and full road closures, which have stayed in place to protect the public from watermain repair sites that still require cleanup. Our first priority is returning water to impacted areas and minimizing disruptions to residents while ensuring access to safe, clean drinking water. Where possible, the City will supply a truck with temporary potable water.

We thank the community for their patience and understanding. For more information about a watermain break in your area, please call our customer contact centre at 403-320-3111.
