On Saturday, May 28, at about 11 a.m. Lethbridge Fire and EMS crews received a report of a dog stuck on a ledge in the coulees across from Paradise Canyon.
The dog's owner was at the coulee top, but was unable to reach the animal.
Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services arrived and did an assessment of the area and deemed it unsafe for conventional access. As such, the technical rescue team was deployed and a rescue boat was put on standby in the event the river needed to be utilized for the rescue.
A LFES technical rescue member was then lowered to where the dog was located. The rescuer calmed the animal, proceeded to lower it to an accessible area and safely returned the dog to the owner.
