Update: Due to forecasted snow on Tuesday, this work has been pushed to Wednesday and Thursday instead of the original plan of Tuesday and Wednesday - weather permitting.
Alberta Transportation and Canadian Pacific Railway will be doing an urgent repair on Highway 3 (Crowsnest Trail) between 28 St and 30 St that could cause significant traffic delays next week.
Weather permitting, the project schedule is expected to go as follows:
- Eastbound lanes will be closed on Tuesday, October 8
- Westbound lanes will be closed on Wednesday, October 9
- Both closure will reduce traffic to a single lane from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
As part of the provincial highway network, Crowsnest Trail is maintained by Alberta Transportation. They have asked that the City of Lethbridge inform residents of this construction and request that they consider alternate routes during this time to help reduce congestion.
Contractor Volker Stevin will be doing the traffic control for this project. Signage will be in place to notify motorists and reduced speeds will be in effect.
