Deadline approaching for Boards, Commissions, Committees

Lethbridge residents are encouraged to apply to be one of City Council's Boards, Commissions and Committees (BCCs) – as each public role provides an opportunity to participate in the present and future direction of the city – ahead of Sunday's application deadline.

A recruitment campaign called 'Bring Out The Best In Our City' has been ongoing throughout the summer, with applications for a variety of positions open until 11:59 p.m. on August 28.

Apply here: https://www.lethbridge.ca/City-Government/Boards-Commissions-Committees/Pages/BCCApplicationForm.aspx

The deadline for the Ward Boundary Commission, which was established by City Council on Aug. 9, will be extended until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, September 5.

The Commission will have the responsibility to study if the Community would benefit from a Ward Electoral System, as well as proposed actions that may encourage more participation in the municipal political system.

The Office of the City Clerk oversees board-member recruitment, appointments and training, as well as the establishment and classification of new committees and assists Council in developing guidelines for these bodies.  Whether they are advisory, decision-making, quasi-judicial or governing roles, all of City Council values the input of residents appointed to these groups.

Please refer to the BCC toolkit, FAQ and list of Boards, Commissions and Committees for more information on eligibility, length of term, meetings times etc. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Office of the City Clerk through 311 or email: committee@lethbridge.ca.
