With the Government of Alberta announcing the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in the near future, the City of Lethbridge is waiving the normal deadlines for the Community Event Support Grant and allow applicants to apply on an ongoing basis throughout the summer.
The next deadline was scheduled for July 31, 2021 however, with the possibility of events being allowed prior to that date, groups can access event funding support should they decide to proceed with events. The grant normally has application deadlines four times throughout the year.
The application and information can be found at www.lethbridge.ca/grants. Scoring and notification of the results will be done within one week of receipt of any applications. The maximum available is $7,500 per event. For events with budgets $1,000 or more, the grant can be used for up to 50% of expenses. For events with budgets under $1,000, applications can be made for the full amount.
These changes will be in place until the end of summer, at which time the deadlines and the situation with COVID-19 will be re-evaluated. All events are expected to follow any public health orders in place to provide a safe opportunity for the community.
