Dog licensing renewals due

Annual dog licensing expires on December 31, and renewal invoices have been issued for 2023. Residents should expect them in the mail within the next two weeks.

Registration licensing provides proof of ownership and contact information which allows pets to be returned to their appropriate owner should they ever come into the care of the Lethbridge Animal Shelter.

In accordance with bylaw 5235, dogs over six months old are required to have a City registered license. In the event of an incident involving a dog who is not registered could result in a fine to the owner. Registration is for the safety of the animal as well as the community.

The fees accumulated from registrations go towards local community programs such as spaying/neutering, veterinarian care for shelter animals and provide funding for community educational programs.

Licensing payments can be made online, at the Lethbridge Animal Shelter, or at City Hall.

For more information about licensing and renewals can be found on the Community Animal Services website
