The City of Lethbridge is holding an emergency services training scenario on Wednesday, September 21 at Southminster United Church starting at 9 a.m.
This is a full-scale exercise, with participants from Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services, Lethbridge Police Service, City of Lethbridge, Alberta Health Services and Canadian Red Cross staff. The event will simulate an event impacting the downtown core of the City, requiring mass casualty support from first responders and the health sector.
Residents should note that actors will be involved in the training exercise and may be wearing special effects make-up to simulate injuries and medical emergencies.
To facilitate the exercise, the roads surrounding Southminster United Church will be closed with signage indicating detours from Wednesday at 7 a.m. The exercise is anticipated to end around 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
As these road closures may impact a Lethbridge Transit route, please call 311 during business hours about possible stop closures and/or scheduling adjustments.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution in this area and follow posted detours.
