Chelsea King works in Planning and Development Services as a GIS Technologist. She works with science every day and exudes her love for her job both inside and outside of City Hall.
Chelsea was nominated by an admiring colleague for spearheading a group of women from the City of Lethbridge to plan and organize a full-day event with the goal of inspiring young girls to pursue their passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The "All Girls STEM day" took place on April 24.
35 middle-school girls participated in this exciting day learned about the importance of City Planning and Infrastructure. They also learned about Waste Management within the City and had a behind-the-scenes introduction to how our city works. Participants were treated to many other fun and inspiring activities, demos and discussions organized by Chelsea and her team, including circuit building skills where the students built their own wearable technology (LED bracelet) to take home!
Chelsea's enthusiasm and passion are an inspiration! Way to go, Chelsea!
