First blue cart pickups happen over the next two weeks

Do you know your new waste and recycling pickup schedule? Residents are encouraged to sign up for the Waste Wizard and review the material that came with their blue cart to understand the new bi-weekly pickup schedule for blue and black carts. The first in a series of staggered recycling pickups will start tomorrow.

Included in the information package that arrived with each blue cart is a map that outlines which parts of the City will begin recycling this week and which will start next week. All those in the blue areas of the map will put out their blue cart on their regular pickup day this week followed by their black cart next week. Those in the green part of the map will continue to put out their black cart this week and will have their first recycling pickup next week. View the schedule map here:
The City of Lethbridge will collect half of the city’s recycling each week and the other half will have garbage pickup. This will ensure a steady stream of recycling material is being processed at the Material Recovery Facility each week. Remember to have your cart out by 7 a.m. and to properly space it 1.5m away from any other objects like your fence, garage, cars, and other carts.
For residents who participated in phase 1 of curbside recycling and had their pickup day changed to Friday, they will revert back to their original pickup day this week.
By signing up for the Waste Wizard tool, residents can get email and text reminders and can print off their individual pickup schedule. The Waste Wizard also features a look-up tool to search items and find out if they can go in the blue cart. The Wizard is available online at
