Residents have the opportunity to request a different blue and/or black cart size, free of charge, from July 12 - August 16.
Now that residents have had a chance to try out the new curbside recycling program and monitor their household's blue and black cart needs, the City is opening up a period of time for residents to request a new cart size. There are two cart size options. The larger 360L cart is the standard delivered to each home and typically holds 5 bags of garbage. The smaller 240L cart holds 3 bags of garbage. Residents can choose the combination of blue and black cart sizes that best suits their needs.
The cart size exchange request can be made online at
311.lethbridge.ca or over the phone by calling Lethbridge 311. After August 16, there will be a $100 fee for exchanging cart sizes.
After the request period closes, the new carts will be ordered and delivered to homes later this fall. The original cart will be removed from the property when the new cart is delivered.
Residents who are struggling to manage their waste on a bi-weekly garbage collection schedule, or who require more recycling space, can request a second blue or black cart for an additional monthly charge. Residents are encouraged to make their second cart requests during the July 12 – August 16 timeframe as well by calling 311.
