On Wednesday, Nov. 29 at approximately 8:45 a.m., Lethbridge firefighters responded to reports of a house fire in the 100 block of 15 Street North.
A total of 23 firefighters from four stations responded and arrived to find smoke coming from the first and second floors of the home. All residents and a pet had safely evacuated the home, and no injuries were reported.
Fire Investigators completed their investigation later the same day and determined the fire was caused accidentally by improper disposal of smoking materials.
The Fire Prevention Office would like to remind the public to properly disposed of smoking materials, such as cigarettes, into a non-combustible container preferably containing water to extinguish the materials and sand to weigh down the container.
