It's cold but City lakes do not meet outdoor skating standards yet

As we head into the Holiday season and colder weather sets in, residents may be tempted to skate on outdoor ponds and lakes. There are four designated skating locations in Lethbridge which city crews frequently monitor for safety. At this time none of these locations meet City of Lethbridge standards for public skating.

The four designated skating locations monitored by City staff are:

  • Henderson Lake;
  • Legacy Park NW Lake;
  • Legacy Park East Lake; and
  • Nicholas Sheran Park

Ice on stormwater ponds is not monitored by the City and residents are reminded to stay safe by keeping off stormwater ponds.

Chinook Park Lake is no longer a designated skating lake and the ice surface will not be checked.
