Lethbridge Transit alters routes to better service COVID vaccination centre

Effective Friday, April 9th Lethbridge Transit will be altering two routes in order to better service the COVID vaccination centre at Exhibition Park. Routes 21 South and 21 Industrial will be altered so that buses can drive into the Exhibition Grounds and drop off riders close to the vaccination centre doors, at bus stop #15002.

The City of Lethbridge, working closely with Alberta Health Services and Exhibition Park, aim to ensure all residents can get vaccinated as quickly and easily as possible. These route changes will be in effect seven days a week, but evening and weekend service will not go into the industrial park.

"Throughout the pandemic, Lethbridge Transit has been modifying how we deliver service to make sure we continue to keep our community safe," says Tim Sanderson, City of Lethbridge Transit Manager. "This is another change we've made to ensure everyone has access to this critical and important next step of getting vaccinated."

Mayor Chris Spearman is encouraging all residents who are eligible to get vaccinated "Vaccines are proven to be safe and highly effective at preventing COVID-19," says Spearman. "Getting vaccinated will help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in community and will allow our economy to get back on track."

Earlier this week, the Alberta Government announced new large-scale immunization clinics that will be used to rapidly increase immunization appointments as vaccine supply permits. They are now operating in several major cities including in Lethbridge at Exhibition Park.
