At approximately 1:00 a.m. this morning, 19 firefighters from three stations were dispatched to a fire alarm activation at the Holiday Inn hotel located at 2375 Mayor Magrath Drive South.
Upon arrival, crews were directed to a fire located in a room on the third floor. One person was rescued from the room and transported to Chinook Regional Hospital. Crews were able to contain the fire to the single room but several hotel occupants were displaced due to smoke and water damage. The building was significantly impacted by the sprinkler system activation with damage estimated at $1,000,000.
No further injuries were reported. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.
