New parking app available for Downtown

​A new free app is now available for residents to pay for parking in Downtown Lethbridge.

The previous parking app WayToPark, used by the City of Lethbridge, is being discontinued by its providers at the end of June. As a result, a replacement app called Flowbird Parking is now available for customers to transition to.

Flowbird is an easy-to-use mobile parking application that allows customers, through a mobile device or tablet, to pay for parking sessions remotely. Customers will need to create new accounts on the Flowbird Parking app. Customers will select the icon for the kiosk located in the zone they parked in, the amount of time they wish to purchase and confirm their purchase.

Both WayToPark and the new app will operate until June 30 in order for customers to have a transition period. Flowbird Parking app will then be the sole app.

The benefits of using the Flowbird app include:

  • Receiving notifications before time expiry
  • Option to extend the parking time to avoid a violation notice (within zone time limits)
  • Registering multiple vehicles
  • Ability to view mobile device paid parking history
  • Secure payments

Customers who currently have accounts on WayToPark will have till December 31 to retrieve any parking receipts they may need. When it ceases, WayToPark will purge all user information data.

Signs and information for the new app will be placed on parking kiosks, in City Hall and other frequent parking areas, as well as on the City's website and social media channels.

City of Lethbridge Parking Operations staff are excited for this implementation as a great replacement option for customers to use. Having a parking app is part of a user-friendly approach that also includes coins, credit cards and parking cards, with the goal of making paying for parking as simple as possible.

The Flowbird app is now available for public download and use. All other parking programs and features such as "Business Add Time to plate", prices, zones etc. will remain the same.
