Mr. Plow, Snow King, Captain Flurry and Darth Blader are some of the new names of our Lethbridge snowplows.
The snowplow naming contest submissions came from Lethbridge School Division, Holy Spirit School Division and Home School students. The entries came from Kindergarten up to Grade 4 students.
The City received more than 100 entries vying to be selected for one of the 12 new snowplow names. The City received many creative submissions including the Blackfoot word for snow, famous celebrities and cartoons as well as many weather related names.
Here is a list of the 12 chosen names and the design of how it appears on the plow:
Partnering with the school divisions allowed for submissions to come directly from school aged children. The snowplow naming contest provided schools with a colouring sheet that included snowplow and snow route information as well as winter safety reminders.
The snowplows have been branded and you can find each name uniquely displayed on the passenger side of the snowplow.
