Non-profits and community groups can apply for local grants until April 30

At a time when resources may be limited and public health restrictions continue to be in place, there are still opportunities for non-profits and community groups to access grant funding.

Applications for the Community Event Support Grant and Community Capital Project Grant are due April 30, 2021.

"We've had community organizations reach out to us saying they want to continue supporting new events or activities that will enhance the community, particularly after the tough year we've all had," says Lori Harasem, Recreation and Culture Development Manager. "We want to encourage resourceful and creative solutions during these changing times and we'll work with groups to ensure they have the flexibility they need to create meaningful virtual or in-person experiences."

Community Event Support Grant
Although there are still restrictions in place to prevent public gatherings and promote physical distancing due to COVID-19, the City of Lethbridge recognizes the value of special events and the contribution they make to the vitality of our community. The Community Event Support Grant is allowing submissions for virtual events and encourages community organizations to still apply even if they are planning an in-person event. This grant covers events such as sport competitions, community festivals and conferences.

Community Capital Project Grant
This grant can be used for renovations or capital equipment for non- profits who provide recreational, sport, arts, cultural, or social services for the community. The grant is designed to assist with smaller capital projects.

The City offers a number of other grants for non-profits and community groups with different application dates. For more information on eligibility and all available funding options visit:
