For the first time, Lethbridge residents can book City picnic shelters online. Starting at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 2, online reservations will be live for the 8 bookable picnic shelters across the City by visiting http://leisure.lethbridge.ca.
With the new online booking system, picnic shelters bookings will be reserved on a first come, first serve, basis and will be confirmed as soon as the online payment has been processed.
Picnic shelters are popular for family events, weddings and other community gatherings throughout the summer and fall. In the past, these had to be booked in person or over the phone. By providing online booking, residents can book on their own time and view what is available before making plans.
This new option is part of the City's latest online leisure services. In addition to booking swim lessons, which was introduced in 2018, residents can now view arena and sports field availability, book picnic shelters, register for Helen Schuler Nature Centre programs and manage their online account.
Users can view all online leisure services through the same location however, swim lessons (operated by Recreation Excellence) and City of Lethbridge services must be purchased separately.
Both individuals and organizations can set up accounts and have access to their purchasing history and other account information.
The City of Lethbridge has upgraded their leisure management software in order to provide the community with online services and will continue to grow the options available to residents.
Those wishing to book picnic shelters in-person can still do so by visiting the Recreation and Culture department on the third floor of City Hall.
