With trees slowly turning shades of yellow, fall is in the air and with that comes the closure of the outdoor pools – both Henderson and Westminster - and City spray parks over the next few weeks.
Both the Gyro Spray Park, located behind Nicholas Sheran Arena and the Rotary Fountain in Galt Gardens are slated to be shut down for the fall and winter season on Monday, September 9.
Henderson Pool's last day of operation will be Monday, September 2. The facility will be open holiday Monday from 1 – 7 p.m, weather permitting. Henderson Pool which is owned by the City of Lethbridge and operated by Recreation Excellence has been open to the public seven days a week throughout the summer months.
Westminster Outdoor Public Pool, run by the Westminster Neighborhood Association, will have its last day for human visitors on Sunday, September 1. On Monday, September 2 they will host the very popular Paws In the Pool event from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. This fundraiser for the Lethbridge and District Humane Society, allows dogs who have all of their vaccinations (including bordetella) to swim, along with a handler aged 18+. Admission is a $10 donation and there will be a silent auction and charity bbq, along with prizes for the best dressed dog.
Both outdoor pools will reopen in June 2020.
