Due to the extremely cold temperatures, some parking meters in the downtown are malfunctioning. As a result, for today only, downtown patrons who park at malfunctioning meters are not required to deposit coins for parking.
Commissionaires who enforce downtown parking have been advised of this issue and will not be ticketing vehicles parked at malfunctioning meters. If a parking meter is malfunctioning, the display screen will either be blank, or it will read FAIL. Visitors who park at functioning meters are advised to pay for parking, as usual.
Parking meters are powered by batteries, which are susceptible to extremely cold temperatures. They are expected to function normally once temperatures moderate.
