In order to facilitate improvements at the intersection of University Drive, Walsh Drive and Heritage Boulevard, there will be series of partial lane closures on Sunday, March 25 starting at 8 a.m. The road is expected to reopen by mid-afternoon.
There will be temporary lane closures in the westbound lane of Walsh Drive and in the eastbound lane of Heritage Boulevard for short durations while work is completed (approximately 1-2 hours each).
Motorists should consider alternate routes to access businesses to the northeast and to the west of this intersection.
Crews will be installing street lights on top of the existing traffic signal poles in the first stage of this project. Additional lane closures will be required until mid-July to finish this work (weather permitting), including changes to curb lines, the addition of new lanes, new traffic signals and street lights and the reconstruction of Walsh Drive from Argyll Road West to University Drive.
This intersection improvement is part of the Métis Trail construction project and will support additional traffic from Métis Trail in the future. For more information, visit www.lethbridge.ca/metistrail.
