The City of Lethbridge has declared Phase 1 snow routes active, today at 11 a.m.. Vehicle owners must move all vehicles parked on-street along Phase 1 snow routes by 11 a.m. tomorrow, February 21, 2023.
To facilitate effective snow plowing, temporary parking restrictions will come into effect. Alternative parking includes driveways, rear parking pads and along streets that are not part of a snow route.
- 24 hours from activation, vehicles left in Phase 1 parking lanes will be subject to parking tickets when they impede operation on these routes.
- These measures remain in place until the City announces snow routes are no longer active, and parking can resume.
- Phase 1 snow routes are identified with a blue snowflake tab on the upper side of snow route parking signs. The community is reminded to look for the signs and make sure they are aware of snow route statuses before using the adjacent on-street parking. When you see snow, make sure you know.
- As of February 1, parking tickets will be used to enforce temporary parking restrictions on active Phase 1 snow routes. So far this season, just under 1,500 courtesy reminders were distributed to non-compliant vehicles on active snow routes. This gave users of these areas a chance to learn about the process before introducing parking enforcement.
Snow routes can become active any time during the season whenever snow creates unsafe driving conditions, as determined by City Transportation Operations. Want to see where the snow plows are currently working? Check out the snow plow tracking map!
