You may notice some activity in Legacy Park as construction starts today on the development of Phase 2 – Legacy Park.
Initial construction is focused on creating a second parking lot and driveway beside the original northside lot to provide additional parking for Legacy Park and its future amenities.
Crews will need to use a portion of the existing north parking lot as a staging area for equipment but the public will have limited access to the lot during construction.
Park users will continue to have full access to existing park amenities, including the sports courts, outdoor obstacle course, playground and skatepark.
A second part of Phase 2 construction is the development of a waterfall and ornamental garden. Work will start in late April in partnership with the Horticulture Society. The waterfall and ornamental garden is located in the northwest area of the park and will have little impact to park users.
Parking lot and road construction is scheduled to be completed in June prior to the construction of a community pavilion, spray park and picnic shelters. This new parking area will function as a staging area for construction equipment and will remain closed during the construction of these amenities.
