Pool maintenance and fee adjustment

City of Lethbridge will be doing annual maintenance at two of the indoor pools operated by Recreation Excellence over the next month which will result in closures at Fritz Sick Pool August 12 - September 2 and Stan Siwik Pool September 3 – September 22.

During these shut down periods, Nicholas Sheran Pool will remain open for those looking for an indoor swimming facility and this facility does accept the Fun Pass. The Cor Van Raay YMCA at ATB Centre also remains open for drop-in.  As well, Westminster Public Outdoor Pool and Henderson Pool will be open until September 2. The Rotary Centennial Fountain in Galt Gardens and the Gyro Spray Park located behind Nicholas Sheran Leisure Centre, will remain open until at least the September long weekend and longer if weather permits.

Recreation Excellence operated pools will be seeing a slight increase to their drop-in, and Fun Pass (membership and visit pass) rates starting September 1, 2019.  These increases are necessary to offset increases in operational costs such as minimum wage, utility rates and costs of maintenance and aquatics supplies and is approved by City Council as part of the Operating Budget. Changes to the drop-in rates and 10 visits passes are now available at and further adjustments will be updated as they become available. The new rates will also be reflected in the September 2019 Recreation and Culture Guide which will be available on the City website and the Active Lethbridge app on Friday, August 23.
