Project Connect Donation Drive Oct. 21

The planning committee for Project Connect will be having a donation drive on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Rotary Square at CASA, 230-8 Street South. During this time, we invite all members of our community to come and donate items for those at risk in our community. We welcome donations as listed on the Wish List document.

We are very pleased to announce that we will be partnering our event with Nitsis’skoowaaniksi "Unity in Services"- our sister event that will be taking place in Stand Off in mid-November.

Project Connect is a complimentary one-day event contributing to a larger movement in Lethbridge and across the province to help end homelessness. It involves the coordinated efforts of the community, service providers, government agencies and volunteers. It is designed to provide a one-stop opportunity to connect people to the services they require to improve their life situation.

This year, Project Connect will be taking place on Nov. 4 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Fritz Sick Memorial Centre, 420-11 Street South.

Project Connect is intended for people in Lethbridge who are experiencing the effects of living with low incomes as well as those experiencing homelessness and those at risk of becoming homeless. It is also for people living paycheck to paycheck, living in unsafe or overcrowded conditions, on the street, in shelters or surfing between family and friends because they are unable to find permanent and affordable housing. We anticipate serving more than 400 people at this event and will rely strongly on community support to ensure that all residents of our city have access to the services, supports and items they need.

Some of the resources that will be available in a convenient one-stop location at Project Connect include: access to Legal Guidance support; assistance with income tax preparation; housing referrals and support; victim/crisis counselling; employment, income, and health care services; information on services for youth, seniors, and immigrants; referrals for clothing vouchers and other necessities.
