Property taxes due by June 30

The City of Lethbridge is reminding all Lethbridge property owners that their 2022 property taxes are due next week.

Property taxes go towards funding essential services to the community including ambulance, policing, infrastructure and community services.

If you have recently purchased property and/or have not received a 2022 Tax Notice, please call 311. Due to delays at Alberta Land Title Office, property owners may have taken possession of a property in the City of Lethbridge but not be registered on title yet. If this is the case and you have not received your tax notice, please contact us for a copy. Your Statement of Adjustments will be required as proof of ownership.

Late payment penalties will not be waived if you did not receive your Tax Notice.

Taxes are due by June 30, 2022, and a 7% penalty will be applied to all unpaid 2022 tax balances as of July 1.

The following payment options are available:

  • Online or telephone banking using the 13-digit roll number located in the top right of your tax notice. Please select "Lethbridge (City of) Taxes";
  • Cheque or money order, made payable to the City of Lethbridge, can be mailed or dropped off at City Hall, 910 - 4th Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 0P6;
    • Please do not send cash by mail
    • The City has a secure mailbox located at the front doors of City Hall and a drive-through drop box located in the traffic circle behind City Hall
  • Directly at your bank and the City will accept the teller stamp date as the date of payment received; or
  • Cash, cheques, and debit card payments are accepted by cashiers on the main floor at City Hall from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The City does not accept credit card payments for taxes.

In anticipation of many people coming in next week, parking in front of City Hall will be free from June 27-30. We also ask that those coming to City Hall to please be patient if there are lines and also to please be courteous to our City staff who are here to help you.

Property owners have the option of using our convenient monthly Tax Instalment Prepayment Plan (TIPP), which provides an annual discount credit of 1.25%. Property owners, whose 2022 taxes are paid in full, can sign up for TIPP before July 20 to be enrolled in the program to prepay their 2023 property taxes. Please visit for further information on this program.

In December 2020, City Council approved a zero per cent increase in the operating budget helping to minimize tax increases in Lethbridge. However, residents may see a tax increase on their bills for other reasons including a change to their property assessment (the value of your home, business or multi-family complex) or change in taxes collected by the Government of Alberta for the education tax and the Green Acres Foundation budget.

Additional information about assessment, taxes and penalties can be found on the back of the Tax Notice, at or by calling 311.

Property owners can sign up to receive their future property tax notices by email or view their 2022 property tax notice online at
