Residents sought for Boards, Commissions, Committees

Lethbridge residents are encouraged to apply to be one of City Council's Boards, Commissions and Committees (BCCs) – as each public role provides an opportunity to participate in the present and future direction of the city.

Whether they are advisory, decision-making, quasi-judicial or governing roles, all of City Council values the input of residents appointed to these groups.

A recruitment campaign called 'Bring Out The Best In Our City' is now underway. Applications will be open until August 28, 2022, for a variety of positions.

The Office of the City Clerk oversees board-member recruitment, appointments and training, as well as the establishment and classification of new committees and assists Council in developing guidelines for these bodies.

"We are really trying to ramp up our recruiting efforts this year and believe that our residents will find being on a Board, Commission or Committee to be a worthwhile and productive experience," says Ryan Westerson, Legislative Services Manager.

"Lethbridge City Council values the input of residents and sitting on a Board, Commission or Committee is one important way to provide your voice in Council's decisions," says Acting Mayor Belinda Crowson. "Sitting on one of the City's Boards, Commissions and Committees is an exceptional way to contribute to our community. Your voice, your opinions, your hopes and goals for our city are important and this is a great way for people to become involved. Check out the various opportunities and apply."
