Road closures continue around 5 Avenue South

As work continues on the new Lethbridge Regional Park 'n' Ride Transit Terminal and the 5 Avenue South watermain renewal, two road closures will impact traffic in the downtown area.

  • Effective Monday, August 13, there will be a road closure in the 400 block of 7 Street South so crews can continue to work on the 5 Avenue South watermain renewal project.

  • Effective Monday, August 20, the 400 block of 8 Street will be closed so crews can move blocks of precast concrete into the Lethbridge Regional Park 'n' Ride Transit Terminal site. A detour between 8 Street and Stafford Drive will be set-up to allow for business access.

Both roads are expected to reopen by Monday, August 27. Access to businesses will be maintained but thru traffic is not permitted. Parking in this area is reduced to allow for construction.

Motorists are advised to drive with caution in these areas and follow posted detours.

Work is expected to wrap up on 5 Avenue South later this week and the road will reopen to traffic.
