Traffic is once again flowing and parking and sidewalks fully accessible on 5 Street and 2 Avenue South. Road closures have been in effect in the area following the Lethbridge Hotel fire and a watermain break.
Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services have completed their work onsite of the Lethbridge Hotel fire. The building has been fenced and secured and will be returned to the property owner. The remaining demolition or restoration will be at the owner's discretion and the appropriate remediation will be required to manage the asbestos confirmed in the building. While the site sits undisturbed, there is no risk to the public.
The Downtown Clean Sweep program will be in the area helping to clean up streets and sidewalks following these incidents.
