On Monday, Apr. 9, work will begin on a project to reline sanitary sewer pipes in south Lethbridge in the Fleetwood Bawden and Scenic Drive neighbourhoods.
Over the next six weeks, work will take place along Scenic Drive South, between 16 Avenue South and 4 Street South. The project is a rolling operation in three broad segments, working northward from 16 Avenue South.
Work in the Fleetwood Bawden area will also start on April 9 but will continue until mid-June. Work will take place along 7 Street South, 8 Street South, 9 Street South, 10 Street South, 11 Street South, 12A Street South and 12B Street South.
Residents in this area have been notified in advance in writing regarding scheduled interruptions in their household sewer service. Motorists are advised to expect traffic disruptions while work is occurring and are asked to drive with caution, follow detours, and slow down around work crews.
The City of Lethbridge is repairing aging sewer lines with Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP), a cost-effective alternative to sewer line replacement. CIPP is a relining solution that eliminates the need to dig up roads, making it much less disruptive for residents and commuters.
