Update – April 6, 2022 9:30 a.m.
Fire investigators were on scene yesterday morning and have concluded their investigation. This fire was determined to be accidental. The damage is now estimated to be $730,000 to the primary residence and $50,000 to a secondary residence.
The Fire Prevention Bureau is reminding everyone to ensure that that non-combustible containers used to dispose of smoking materials are safely secured.

Fire & EMS crews responded to a fire at a residential building in the Couleecreek
south area at approximately 6:20 a.m. this morning.
Crews
from three stations responded to the call and arrived to a double-story single
family detached home ablaze with a second home directly to the east affected by
the neighbouring fire.
Crews
quickly worked to establish water supply to the scene and were able to gain
control of the fire.
No
injuries have been reported and the estimated damage is $420,000.00. The fire
is currently under investigation.
