Testing to take place on Civic Common square

Over the next week, residents may notice trucks and equipment on-site in the Civic Common square - the four-square-blocks around City Hall which includes: Civic Ice Centre, Civic Field, YMCA, Yates Theatre, Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization and the Old Courthouse.

Contractors will be on site starting February 20 and the work is anticipated to finish on February 26. No road closures are required but barricades may be in place blocking a limited number of parking stalls in different locations. This will only be required while work is in progress.

Workers will be performing various geo-technical tests. It will involve drilling small holes in the ground to take soil samples. This work was identified as a requirement in the recently completed Civic Common Master Plan and will help inform future planning.

The Civic Common Master Plan was completed in October, 2018 and will provide a framework to guide and manage future growth and change within the Civic Common plan area. It is designed to support a wide-range of events including civic, recreational, and cultural activities. For more information visit www.lethbridge.ca/civicplan.
