Today is Municipal Election Day, and voters will elect a Mayor and City Councillors as well as Public School and Separate School Trustees.
Lethbridge Transit service is free all day today, and voting Stations will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Remember, to be eligible to vote you must be:
- at least 18 years of age
- a Canadian Citizen
- a resident of Alberta for at least six months before election day
- a resident of Lethbridge on Election Day
- be able to present ID that shows your name and address
You must vote in the Voting Subdivision in which you reside. If you are unsure where to vote, you can find your Voting Station using the Where Do I Vote online tool at www.lethbridge.ca/election.
Voters can vote for Mayor, up to eight candidates for City Councillor, up to seven candidates for Public School Trustee, and up to five candidates for Separate School Trustee. When casting ballots, voters are not required to vote for the maximum number of candidates in any category.
On the final day of advance voting, 1,493 ballots were cast, bringing the total to 3,912 ballots cast in advance voting between Sept. 30 and Oct. 14, 2017. By comparison, 3,421 advance ballots were cast in the 2013 election.
