Update on City recreation facility access based on new guidelines for sport activities

On February 6, the provincial government announced changes to restrictions for children's team and school sports. Since that time, the City has been working with community groups to review and re-assess these changes to determine their impact on facility operations.

The current public health guidelines do not permit open public use in any City recreation facility at this time. As such, the City has been working directly with community groups to determine their updated usage needs.

It was determined that the following arenas will be available for scheduled and permitted use through the community groups:

  • ATB Centre
  • ENMAX Centre
  • Nicholas Sheran Ice Centre
  • Logan Boulet Arena
  • Labor Club Ice Centre

It is anticipated that all other City arenas will remain closed until Fall 2021, although the City will re-assess options as the guidelines continue to evolve.

All bookings must be coordinated through the community groups at this time. Those interested in accessing programming at the arenas can find a list of most local community groups at

Pools and Recreation Centres

Due to the changing nature of public health guidelines, pools managed by Recreation Excellence remain closed, however work is being done to identify programming options. An update will be shared at a later date. This includes Nicholas Sheran Pool, Stan Siwik Pool and Fritz Sick Pool.

The public is encouraged to reach out to their community group or other facility operators about recreation opportunities and re-opening plans.
