Virtual memorial to take place honouring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls

In partnership with Reconciliation Lethbridge Advisory Committee and the Wellness Program—Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc., the City of Lethbridge is hosting a virtual memorial to honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG).

On Monday, February 14 from 5 – 8 p.m., photos and names will be projected on the side of City Hall (Stafford Drive side) to honour loved ones who have not come home. Residents who wish to see their loved one included in the memorial can reach out to Indigenous Relations Specialist, Echo Nowak (echo.nowak@lethbridge.ca) to organize their photo and details.

The City continues to work through the projects and recommendations of the MMIWG Work Plan aimed at addressing social, economic, cultural and institutional barriers facing Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ peoples in our community.

City Administration will be bringing an update on the MMIWG Work Plan to the Standing Policy Committee on February 17.

*The photos submitted are to be used for the sole purpose of displaying them on February 14, 2022, as part of a virtual memorial for missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. The City of Lethbridge will not use the personal information consented to, for any purpose other than what has been authorized in this consent.*
