Residents in the area surrounding the Wastewater Treatment plant are thanked for their ongoing patience as crews work to alleviate the odour from the plant.
The annual spring haul of waste materials will be ending in a few days with more than 40,000 cubic meters of material was removed and land-applied as a fertilizer in the County of Lethbridge.
Odour issues persist in areas downwind of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. With the spring haul completed, crews will be taking additional steps to help combat the issue. These measures include mixing up the remaining material, adding odour neutralizing additives and returning problematic material to the plant for processing.
The current odour-neutralizing strategy will be reassessed in late May to best determine next steps. An update will be provided in early June with any additional actions being taken. We appreciate the community's continued patience as we work through this issue.
