Fire Crews responded to a report of wildland fire in the 2500 block of 60th Avenue West (Cottonwood Park area) at approximately 1:15 a.m. today, Sunday, July 4.
Three stations with 8 units, along with the assistance of the Coaldale, Coalhurst and Picture Butte Fire services, responded to a large grass fire with several buildings and hay stacks ablaze.
The extreme hot weather over the past week has made grass conditions very dry, causing the fire to spread quickly.
One fire fighter was transported to hospital and later released.
Damage estimates are not available at this time and the fire is still under investigation.
