Sunday, November 13 will be the last day to drop off your yard waste at one of the three depot locations. The sites will be closed for the season Monday, November 14.
Since spring, the yard waste sites have been open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations:
- Bridge Drive West Recycling Station - at the top of Bridge Drive West hill, right before the junction of Bridge Drive West and University Drive
- Stafford Drive North Recycling Station - at the junction of Stafford Drive North and Scenic Drive North
- South Side Recycling Station - located on 28 Avenue South between the Lethbridge Soccer Complex and Lethbridge Judo Club
To date in 2022, the sites have collected a total of 1,957,520 kilograms (1,957.52 tonnes) of yard waste which was diverted from the landfill.
Grass, leaves and garden waste collected at yard waste sites is composted at the Waste & Recycling Centre and used in city parks and for ground remediation at the landfill.
Clean pumpkins, without paint or glitter, can also be dropped off at a yard waste site prior to closing. Pumpkins will be accepted in paper yard waste bags under 25 pounds or on their own.
After the yard wastes sites close, residents can take this material to the Waste & Recycling Centre (landfill) for composting, with no disposal fees charged on Saturdays. The City's recycling stations which collect cardboard, glass, tin cans and plastic, remain open year round.
Fall leaf continues to accept requests for collection until November 10. Schedule your free pick up by calling 311 during business hours and we will provide you with an approximate pick up date. More information here.
