Dogs seized by SPCA being cared for at Lethbridge Animal Shelter

Earlier today, the City of Lethbridge and SPD Animal Services (operators of the Lethbridge Animal Shelter) assisted the Alberta SPCA in the seizure of approximately 100 small-breed dogs and two young large-breed dogs from a home in Lethbridge.

To further support the SPCA, the dogs are being cared for in a safe environment by professional staff at the Lethbridge Animal Shelter as well as receiving veterinary care. At this time, the shelter has sufficient trained personnel and resources to ensure these dogs are getting the appropriate food and care they need for their condition.

The seized dogs are isolated in a sterile room with separate from other animals being cared for at the shelter.

We understand that people may want to help by donating pet supplies or their time. At this time, however, shelter staff are focusing all efforts on caring for these dogs and are unable to coordinate and administer donations.

As this situation is part of an ongoing investigation by the Alberta SPCA, the City of Lethbridge and SPD Animal Services will not be providing any further information at this time.

For any unrelated urgent matters, please contact the shelter at 403-320-4099
