Did You Know?
The City of Lethbridge has:
- 717 public garbage cans (not all are located within parks, many are in the downtown core which our crews pick up)
- 107 recyclable receptacles (more to be installed summer 2018)
- 224 doggie bag dispensers
- 8,898 active dog licenses (as of April 2018)
- 600,000 doggie bags printed each year! That is a lot of dog poop being picked up!
Doggie Bag Dispensers
The stocking of doggie bag dispensers is a valued service for both dog owners and non-dog owners, and works because of our many valued volunteers. Community volunteers ensure that the dispensers are stocked for all to use. It is a commitment that helps keep our parks clean and disease-free. While our parks staff do their best to stock the dispensers as well, it is difficult to get to them all on a regular basis.
There are several areas that house doggie bag dispensers. Is there one near your house? Do you walk by it every day? Would you like to volunteer to fill the dispenser? We provide the key, and the supply of bags along with our sincerest thanks for helping keep our parks clean!
Here are the doggie bag dispensers that need “adoption” by volunteers who can stock them on a regular basis:
- Popson Park Dog Run
- Laval Park
- Columbia Park
- The Canyons Park
- Canyon Cove Park
- Highlands Park
- Peenaquim Park Dog Run
- Jock Palmer Park
- Pavan Park
- Fairmont Garden Park
- Gyro Park
- Redwood Park
- Sequoia Park
- Lakeview Greenstrip
- Indian Battle Park
- Arbourwood Wild Park
Thank you to our residents for helping to keep our parks attractive and clean for all users.
If your park or pathway doesn’t have a doggie bag dispenser and you feel a dispenser is required, please contact us. Let us know if a doggie dispenser needs more bags as well!
