How to Pay Property Taxes

Property taxes are due on the last business day of June to avoid late payment penalties. Tax payments can be made in a variety of ways:

  Tax Instalment Pre-payment Plan (TIPP)

The TIPP program offers Lethbridge taxpayers the option of making manageable monthly payments. The 10 equal instalments are automatically withdrawn from your bank account on the first of each month, from August to May, earning a rate of prepayment incentive with no service charge.

To be eligible for the TIPP program, your current year property tax (due on the last business day of June) must be paid in full.

Save money, prepay your property taxes

Pay a lump sum up to the last business day of February to receive a discount on your property taxes. The prorated discount will be paid on the equivalent of the previous year's taxes and will be applied to your property tax account. The rate changes yearly so please refer to advertising in local media about this offer from mid December to the end of February, or call 311

 Credit Card

The City of Lethbridge does not offer the option of paying taxes using a credit card.

There are third-party online payment providers in Canada that offer credit card as a payment option for property tax.

The City of Lethbridge does not endorse these third-party payment providers and advises tax payers that:

  • Companies offering this service will charge the tax payer a convenience fee, independent from the City of Lethbridge;
  • There is no guarantee when the City of Lethbridge will receive payment as delivery of payment to The City may take several days or weeks; and
  • Property owners are responsible to pay their property taxes by the due date. If payment is received after the due date, the property owner will be responsible to pay the late payment penalty.
