The irrigation system in Henderson Park is approximately 30 years old and has undergone several repairs and retrofits over the years. Due to the age of the system, repairs and replacement of components will continue to increase and many components of the system are now outdated and parts are unavailable.
In 2015, and irrigation systems audit and assessment was completed and the report showed poor water distribution uniformity within the park, reduced water pressure due to old pipes and many issues with replacements and wiring. Replacement of the entire system is preferable as it will be more cost effective to replace the entire system at once compared to repair and replace in stages.
Irrigation replacement will take place only in Henderson Park and Demonstration Gardens. There will be no work done to Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens, Henderson Ice Rink, Spitz Stadium, Henderson Pool or Henderson Golf Course.
A portion of the north east parking lot (near the concession building) will be closed to the public for the duration of the project starting mid-October 2019 (weather permitting).

The parking lot adjacent to the playground will remain open. The closure is expected to be in effect from November 19-25, 2019, weather permitting.
