This drop-in event will help participants become familiar with the project, the design process and background information. Opportunities will be available to learn more about access, safety and long-term construction schedules. Participants can also provide input on the design options being considered. This feedback will be used to help guide future development.
About the Project
Scenic Drive North is an important arterial road connecting the downtown to north Lethbridge as well as connecting the city to the future North South Trade Corridor (NSTC) via 43 Street North. The existing area structure plans have identified significant residential and commercial development potential north of 26th Avenue North which will have substantial impact on traffic volumes in the area.
The purpose of this preliminary design is to identify the fundamental elements of this roadway to enable a detailed design to be prepared in the future once funding is available. Some of these elements include public engagement, geotechnical and environmental recommendations, stormwater management requirements and constraints, access management, intersection types, active mode and transit requirements, property requirements, utility impacts and planning, estimated capital costs and proposed construction staging.
The major deliverables of this project include:
- Complete the preliminary design of the ultimate 4 lane arterial roadway for Scenic Drive North from Pavan Park Road North along 62 Avenue to 43 Street North including nine (9) intersections
- Prepare Preliminary Design Plans
- Carry out a Community Engagement
- Prepare a Preliminary Design Report
- Present Preliminary Design Report to City of Lethbridge Council and Lethbridge County Council
Funding
This is a joint project between the City of Lethbridge and Lethbridge County.
