About the Project

Spitz Stadium was constructed in 1975 and has been the premiere baseball facility in Lethbridge ever since. The lighted baseball stadium can accommodate over 2000 people and is home to over 250 games per year with and estimated annual attendance of approximately 55,000.

In 2009, the Spitz Stadium Society developed a Master Plan that identified various facility upgrades intended to position the Stadium for long-term operational success.

Phase 1 and 2 completed the following work:

  • upgrades to stadium exterior and walking areas

  • public washroom renovations

  • dugout upgrades

  • construction of new press boxes and announcer booth also used for visiting team broadcasting and television broadcasting

  • umpire change room renovations

  • construction of a first aid room

  • construction of barrier-free elevator and upper-level accessible seating

  • construction of upper-level concourse to allow top-down access to grandstand seating

  • construction of an improved concession space on the upper concourse to service the grandstand as well as satellite concession areas

  • additional public washrooms

  • concession renovations
