The announced Utility Deferral Program is designed to provide temporary relief to citizens who are experiencing financial hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic. City utilities - including electricity, water/wastewater and waste and recycling services are eligible for the program. The deferral period is from March 18, 2020 until June 18, 2020 and includes only current charges due during this period. Amounts that were due before or after this period are not eligible for the program.
- Residential or small commercial customers who use less than 250,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year
- Residential or small commercial customers who use less than 1000 cubic metres of water per year
How to Enroll:
If you meet the eligibility criteria and have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic we ask that you call 311 (or 403-320-3111 outside of Lethbridge) to enroll in the program. Please contact us by June 19th if you wish to participate in the program.
The Repayment Period:
The repayment period will last from June 19, 2020 until June 18, 2021. By default, customers who enroll in the program will be required to make equal monthly payments to repay any deferral amount. This repayment will be in addition to any current charges and balance forward.
If an enrolled customer fails to make the required monthly repayment, any outstanding balances shall be charged interest, late fees or other applicable charges in accordance with the City of Lethbridge's standard collections process. If you cannot make your scheduled payment we recommend calling 311 (or 403-320-3111 outside of Lethbridge) to make alternate payment arrangements with us.
