Branches and Tree Trimmings

Did you know? When organic materials like branches and tree trimmings end up in the landfill, they don't break down like they would in nature and instead release methane gas (a powerful greenhouse gas).

What's the best option for managing my branches and tree trimmings?

Reuse

Get creative, use the tree branches in a project like a birdfeeder or other decorative ideas!

Recycle

There is a special area for collection of this item at the Waste and Recycling Centre - please ask the scale house operator for directions on site.

These items can also be taken to the Residential Yard Waste Sites or the Waste and Recycling Centre. These items will be mulched and used in city parks and planting beds. Mulching helps to extend the life of the landfill and reduces production of greenhouse gases in the landfill.  The extra mulch is available to residents for free, click here for more information.
