This is a 5 milestone program to reduce greenhouse gases. The City of Lethbridge joined the Partners for Climate Protection in 2007. The baseline (milestone 1) was completed on the corporate and the community and is updated annually. The Energy Conservation Master Plan was approved by council on April 20, 2021. It lays out an implementation plan to conserve energy and support greenhouse gas reduction. To view the Energy Conservation Master Plan click here.
Facility Services conducted energy audits on 17 buildings and is working on some of the recommendations. We continue to audit and look for ways to reduce our energy use. Other recommended audits would be on 4 additional facilities as well as the WTP, WWTD, MRF and WTS.
The City of Lethbridge has a few solar projects that have been completed. They include: Lethbridge Sports Park (2kw), Lethbridge ATB Phase 1 (31kw), Civic Centre (1kw), Helen Schuler Nature Centre (2kw) YWCA (2kw) and Nicholas Sheran Picnic Shelter (1kw).
