Environment Construction Operations Plans are important for our construction projects so we can identify and plan for environmental - components at the start of the project. The reports should follow the provincial framework. To view the Eco Plan Framework click here.
The City collects environmental reports for City owned property and on City projects and we have a submission portal on the City of Lethbridge website.
The types of environmental reports we collect include (but are not limited to) the following:
Geotechnical Assessments, Phase I, II and III Environmental Site Assessments, Supplemental or Environmental Overview Reports, Hazardous Building Material Assessments (including Asbestos or Mould Assessments), Materials Management Plans, Annual Monitoring or Compliance Reports, Biological/Environmental Impact Assessments, ECO Plans (Environmental Construction Operations), Confirmatory Sampling, Risk Management Plan, Wetland Assessments and Associated Reports, Traditional Knowledge Assessments, Air Quality Monitoring, UST/AST Removals, GHG Emissions Reports, Gas/Leachate Reports, Wildlife Surveys/Assessments and Associated Reports, Historical Resources Reports, Surface/Groundwater Monitoring and Any other Environmental/Sustainability/Climate Type Report. For report submission and more information click here.
The biodiversity in the urban area has an information gap. We have many studies in the River Valley and in our parks systems but lack info on how much biodiversity we are supporting. We plan to use the assessments to protect & enhance urban biodiversity and promote healthy ecosystems.
Natural Leaders Project (NLP) is an immersive, year-long journey to discover this place & our role as stewards in this ecosystem. The inquiry-based program consists of field trips, guest speakers, case studies, experiments, personal reflections & social action that are facilitated through monthly class visits by the Nature Centre's Environmental Educator. Consistent contact and messaging builds local environmental knowledge & encourages a stewardship mentality among participants. For more information on the program click here.
Other components of the City that impact our land may include the: Ecosystem Management Plan, the Parks Master Plan, Urban Parks Master Plan, Environmental and Historic Resources Strategy, Lethbridge River Valley Parks Master Plan, Lethbridge River Valley Sustainability Plan, Municipal Development Plan, Lethbridge Ecological Inventory, i-Tree Ecosystem Analysis and Oldman River Valley Range Health Study.
