That Halloween jack-o-lantern is simply
too good to waste! Don't let your hard work carving that scary squash go into the landfill - clean pumpkins (without paint) can be taken to
Yard Waste Sites for composting instead! Pumpkins will be accepted in paper yard waste bags under 25 lb or on their own. Please note that if you bag your pumpkin in a plastic bag, you will be asked by staff to un-bag contents on site.
Environment Lethbridge 2020 Pumpkin Carving & Composting Contest

Environment Lethbridge will be holding a photo contest from November 1-7, 2020 on their Facebook page. Enter by submitting a photo of you composting your Jack-O-Lanterns for your chance to win a sustainability prize pack. It can be either in your backyard composter or at the yard waste sites located at the recycling depots!
Help us keep the pumpkins from haunting the landfill for eternity by turning them into compost. Watch the Environment Lethbridge Facebook page for more information and the opening of the competition.
