What do I do with my shredded paper?
Shredded paper is "out" of our curbside recycling program, please do not put shredded paper in your blue cart. It is too small to sort if it comes in with the rest of your recyclables. Through the recycling process, these small pieces fall through the cracks of the sorting machines, stick to the belts and end up all over the floor.
Shredded paper can be taken to the Recycling Stations, be sure to bag it in a clear plastic bag.
What's the best option for managing my shredded paper?
The most impactful thing you can do is to reduce the amount of paper you use. Try going paperless on things like bills, receipts, and confidential statements.
You can reuse the unprinted side of paper to write household notes and lists. Shredded paper can be used as animal bedding or as crafts!

Finally, recycle your shredded paper in a large clear plastic bag. Make sure the bag only contains shredded paper, is tied tightly and place it in the paper collection bin at one of the Recycling Stations.
Try one of the options above before putting in your black cart. If shredded paper is dirty then place in your black cart.
